The PEOPLE Process TYPE Talk

Understanding People is what it's all about.

October 2010

In this issue we'll be discussing the fourth and final dimension of personality type: How We Take Action - Judging or Perceiving. The potential for conflict is great in this dimension because it represents how people like to live their lives. This was the only dimension in which my husband and I were different - Roy's preference being Perceiving and my preference being Judging. Finding this out in an introduction to type theory led us into our great exploration of personality type and creation of The PEOPLE Process.

I know you will enjoy the excerpt from The TYPE Reporter on "What Will Your Leadership Look Like?." This was a lengthy issue so I extracted the example of Carol Shapiro, ENTJ, depicting the impact type had on her personal style in putting together the very successful family-based program "La Bodega de la Familia" to assist prison system parolees.

About the Author - Pam Hollister, INTJ

The fourth and final dimension in personality type theory is how we prefer to take action. Judging types represent approximately 60% and Perceiving types about 40% of the U.S. population. It's important to understand that Judging is the term given by Dr. Carl Jung and doesn't mean "judgmental".

Judging and Perceiving have a lot to do with the way we like to run our everyday lives and the greatest potential for conflict exists between couples with this dimension. Each preference has strengths that each of us should include in our planning and consideration when finalizing a decision.

WHAT WILL YOUR LEADERSHIP LOOK LIKE? - Your Leadership Story - Part 5

What determines the particular cause that a person will want to serve? Is it their type? Judging by the story of this ENTJ leader, it doesn't seem to be type. It seems more to be the place she was in when she witnessed injustice or need.

What determines how a person will serve that cause? Judging by the story of this leader, it seems to have everything to do with type. If you look at your own life, and ask yourself what injustice you would most like to correct, or need you would most like to fill, it may have something to do with your type.

What clients are saying about us.....

The session that I led for our company's twenty Human Resource & Training Professionals went very well and the feedback I received was wonderful. The participants truly enjoyed discovering their "type" and learning about their peers as well. They loved The PEOPLE Process tools and said they made it easy to stay engaged and gave them information in a clear and concise way. The session lasted about 2-1/2 hours and they were hungry for more! I referred them to the TPP participant book for further reading. The learning session was indeed "profound" for all the participants. As our organization determines next steps for The PEOPLE Process, I will keep in touch. Mary Ellen Higgins, SPHR, Director, Training & Development, ACCENT

We have found this product to be effective in training diplomats in negotiation and crisis management skills, retrenched fishermen in job seeking skills, managers in hi-tech organizations in career development, hospital emergency-room staff in managing conflict encounters, civil servants in time management skills, trainers in advanced facilitation skills, and entrepreneurs in new business start-ups. Without exception, participants have been able to relate easily to the use of the system, are amazed at the uncanny accuracy of the personality type profile, and have been able to apply The PEOPLE Process in their daily work. David Kenny, Director, PKA Training & Development, Ireland

...a great tool to help team members understand themselves and their teammates better. My clients love it because it has been delightfully accurate and is a practical "take-away" that they can share with the significant people in their lives. I highly recommend it as a key tool for facilitators to use to assess personality type preferences. Ruth Urban, M.S., Certified Professional Facilitator, The Urban Group, Las Vegas, Nevada
